To understand the culture you are interested in, it is better to start with the food and drink traditions. We think that it is unfair that the world associates Russia with only Borsch and vodka. The country is multinational, as well as the cuisine. And, where is the best place to enjoy the variety of Russian cuisine, if not in the most international city in Russia – St.Petersburg?
The idea of this tour is to get our foreign guests acquainted with the everyday food and drinking life of Russian people. We won’t visit any famous touristic places during this tour, we will show you places that locals know and love. The menu is based on favorite local goodies: fresh farmer products, Georgian cuisine, wine, and of course strong alcohol.
We set the tone for the tour at one of the oldest farmer markets in the city, where you’ll enjoy traditional farmer products. Near the food market, one of the best Georgian restaurants is located. The food there is unique, delicious and extremely popular with locals. There, we will try khachapuri – very tasty Caucasian cheesy pizza, khinkali – Georgian dumplings, traditional lemonade, and Georgian moonshine.
After this introduction into local cuisine, we will head to the speakeasy wine bar, which is famous with locals for its great variety of Russian wines, believe us, Russian wine is worthy! Also, we will try specialties that are produced on local farms, or something else if you’d rather, to get you into the spirit of St.Pete.
After this bar, we will take a stroll along the beaten tracks highlights of the city center and end our tour in one of the best bars, where we will try not only Russian alcohol drinks but learn the history of the Russian banquet and traditional Russian distillates, followed by some buckwheat popcorn.
During our food tour, our expert guide will show you old and charming buildings, streets, places that you will pass and tell you the history that hides behind them! You’ll dive into the historical heart of the city and into the current city’s life.
